Drawing on its extensive Creative Industry contacts; a unique college set bang in the middle of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, is getting ready to welcome over 60 industry professionals to its annual Industry Week. Young Creative Awards 2014

The Young Creative Awards is now open for all aged 13 to 24 and Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies is proud to be a sponsor of the event. The awards aim to showcase talent within Nottingham and help further the creative industry careers of young people. Petebox to headline the Confetti student Christmas party

Confetti are delighted to announce that Petebox will be headlining the Confetti student Christmas Party on Thursday 12th December. Petebox is a solo performer, musician, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose pioneering live show has ignited audiences across the world. If you want a taster of what to expect from Petebox, you can check out his YouTube channel here. Tickets cost £3 (which includes entry and your first drink) and can be purchased from Confetti reception.

Confetti student nominated for two national music awards

Confetti Urban and Electronic Year 2 student Kyle Wytchwood, has been nominated for two awards at the Hardcore Heaven awards 2013. Kyle has been nominated for breakthrough producer and breakthrough DJ and it’s safe to say his tutors and fellow students couldn’t be more delighted for him. Confetti DJ Tutor Mark Pearson said: “Kyle has always worked hard and been dedicated to the hardcore scene and his two nominations are proof that hard work pays off” We’re encouraging staff and students to get behind Kyle and vote for him to win. Students take on professional roles at GameCity Festival

  October’s GameCity festival saw professionals and fans of gaming jet in from around the world to enjoy talks, workshops and to take part in the latest innovations in gaming technology. The GameCity event is held annually here in Nottingham and, as ever, Confetti students were on hand to assist with the events. Student ambassadors worked with school children to help inspire them and consider a future in gaming by assisting in a series of Minecraft EDU workshops which saw children build their own version of Nottingham. Visit from producer Phil Harding

Confetti ICT Music students were visited by famous 80’s producer, Phil Harding last month. From the early age of 16, Phil has been working in the music industry working alongside top producers of the 70’s. He has produced some of the biggest names in the industry including Pet Shop Boys, BoyZone and Kylie Minogue. Phil came to speak to students on two different courses: FdSc in Music Technology, and BSc Audio & Recording Technology on Tuesday 15th October. Famous rapper visits Confetti students

As if you didn’t need another reason to come to Confetti, we’ve had world famous rapper Supernatural drop in and surprise our Year 2 Urban and Electronic Production students. Supernatural paid a special visit to Confetti to free-style with our students and pass on his words of advice. MC Supernatural has gained worldwide attention for his incredible free-styling and battle rap skills and he even holds the Guinness World Record for longest free-style rap which lasted over 9 hours! Confetti Music Ambassador nominated for Mercury Prize ’13

Confetti’s music ambassador Jake Bugg has been nominated for the Mercury Prize 2013. Jake will be up against tough competition though as other nominees consist of David Bowie, Rudimental, Arctic Monkeys and Laura Mvula. For the full shortlist, click here. Confetti are STEAMing ahead

Here at Confetti, our students and alumni are so passionate about their chosen subjects and are eager to spread the word about life at Confetti and all the extra work we do. Recently Confetti alumni Victoria Van Garrett appeared on BBC Radio Nottingham to discuss her role as part of GameCity and why she’s so determined to teach school children about games development. After graduating from Confetti, Victoria went on to work as Project Coordinator for STEAM School.
