Kagoule to support Sleaford Mods at Rescue Rooms

Punk-hop ranters Sleaford Mods are hitting up Rescue Rooms in Nottingham next Tuesday (27th Jan) before their appearance at Confetti’s Industry Week, and we’ve just heard that rising stars Kagoule will be supporting them too! That gives the already sold-out crowd the perfect combination of indie rock, grunge and punk hip-hop. Hurrah! Confetti’s sister brand Denizen Artists manage the three-piece group from Nottingham and critics are already predicting they are heading for the top. Ex-Confetti student Philip George tops the charts – So can you!

Did you know chart toppers Philip George, Jake Bugg and Glastonbury performers Dog is Dead all have something in common? Confetti. What a week it has been for Ex-Confetti student and Nottingham DJ Philip George. The 21-year-old reached No.1 in the Official UK Dance Chart with his track ‘Wish You Were Mine’, a 90s house track that samples Stevie Wonder’s My Cherie Amour. However, that’s not all. Confetti students work Young Creative Awards

A showcase event for Nottingham’s Young Creative Awards 2015 is to be staged in the newly revamped Trinity Square on Friday 24th October. And our BTEC Level 3 Technical Events students couldn’t be more involved, providing all the tech and set up for the event. The awards, sponsored by Confetti Media Group, offer young people the opportunity to take part in a citywide creative competition, and win a mixture of cash and other prizes, such as mentoring opportunities and work experience which will enable them to further their creative industry careers. Hockley Hustle comes to Confetti!

Take the best of Nottingham’s music scene; add hundreds of performers and throw in a ton of money for charity and you’ve got Hockley Hustle! This year Antenna is delighted to be one of the selected venues to host the much-loved festival. #DoWhatIDo – Sam Dovaston

Sky cameraman Sam Dovaston has a pretty exciting career. From filming live sports to music and entertainment shows, the 26-yr old Confetti graduate also freelances as a Director of Photography; working on everything from music videos all the way through to documentaries and promos. After graduating from Confetti with an Fdsc in TV & Film Production in 2009, Sam was put in contact with a few industry professionals by course tutor Jamie Cash. “I first assisted on a BBC Asian music shoot,” says Sam. “From there I met the person who supplied all the equipment for the shoot and ran …

#DoWhatIDo – Faolan Jones

Faolan Jones, 28, studied for an Fdsc in TV & Film at Confetti between 2008-2010 at and since then has gone on to achieve some pretty great things. Working as a Senior Associate of Video Production at Teach For All (http://www.teachforall.org/) – a global charity dedicated to achieving education equality, Faolan tells us a little bit more about his progression from Confetti to his current role. “I spent a few years freelancing for various clients – record labels, corporate companies and independent production companies,” he says. “Alongside this, I co-founded a production company with another Confetti student – Andre Nichols. …

Confetti does Splendour
Confetti students and staff were among the thousands who attended this weekend's Splendour festival at Wollaton Park. Confetti students weren't just soaking up the atmosphere, they were making the entire festival happen. Our students were working around the clock to make sure stages were set and some of the world's biggest names in music were ready to grace the stage. With Technical Events students setting up marquees and controlling the behind-the-scenes technology, to TV & Film students covering the entire event, Splendour was a real example of the hands-on experience that Confetti students get. #DoWhatIDo- Victoria Van Garrett

Victoria Van Garret studied Games Development at Confetti and is now working as a Development QA Game Tester. “My favourite part of my course was game theory and concept generation. I love coming up with ideas, researching the market and seeing how I can adapt that idea based around what’s popular within the target audience and the technologies available” said Victoria. Sam Paylor studied a HND in Music Technology and is now an Audio Visual Technician at Confetti. As part of his course, he was able to access Confetti’s huge range of technology equipment and claims this is what has helped him get ahead: “Having the facilities at Confetti to be able to record bands as part of your coursework is great. The studio lessons were really well done. #DoWhatIDo – Tristan Vocaturo

When Tristan came to Confetti after sixth form, he knew he’d made the right decision. “It felt right from the beginning”, he said. “The facilities, the tutor knowledge, the hands-on and real life experience that’s all geared towards getting you job-ready.“ Tristan studied Audio Visual Recording Technology and graduated in 2012. During his course, he studied a variety of modules,  such as Multimedia Animation Production, Audio Synthesis Technology and Interactive Media.
