This Digital Video and Photography Level 2 BTEC college course will help you develop your skills in photography, filmmaking, audio recording and lighting for still and moving image.

You’ll learn how to:

  • plan and pitch your own ideas 
  • light, shoot and edit your own short films 
  • produce a portfolio
  • record and edit audio and film using Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Use Adobe Photoshop to manipulate images

This course is for you if:

  • you enjoy watching and making short films and YouTube edits
  • you are good at photography
  • you have a creative eye for images
  • you are excited by having the freedom to create films and photographs from your own ideas

  • 4 GCSEs grade 9-3 (A*-D)* including English and maths
  • An appreciation of and passion for digital video and photography with a level of practical experience

Depending on your prior English and Maths attainment, you may need to improve your grade as part of your course.

Develop the skills required when working on photography and film projects e.g. camera operation, lighting, editing, audio acquisition, and project planning.

Create a media project tailored to your personal development, using both photography and filming skills. You’ll also learn about the background of the industry and how to promote yourself.

You’ll respond to a creative industry brief, bringing together all the skills you’ve acquired. This will include producing your own short film and photographic project.
