Live & Tech Events students work on sold out Easy Life show

Monday August 9, 2021

On Wednesday 21 July our live events venue Metronome finally re-opened its doors post lockdown to welcome a sold out crowd for a live performance and signing by Easy Life. As ever, it was an opportunity for Confetti Live & Technical Events students to gain valuable experience working with a professional tour crew.

Easy Life came to Metronome to promote their new album ‘Life’s a Beach’ in a series of gigs organised by our friends at Rough Trade.

Jamie and Tom have both been studying on our Live & Technical Events degree throughout the pandemic and were given the opportunity to shadow and work alongside the touring crew for Easy Life as they made their return to the stage.

‘The Easy Life gig represents what we do so well here….real life experiences! I’ve known some of the band and crew for a while, so was able to tap into that to make sure we got a great experience for them, and at the end of a really tough year for the live events industry: what a brilliant way to bow out for the summer!’

John Meredith, Head of Curriculum – Music

Jamie and Tom spent the day preparing the venue for the gig – taking the band through soundcheck and observing their crew.

‘It was great to spend the day with a professional crew, getting the ins and outs of how everything worked on a touring show. It’s also a great show to be able to put on my portfolio and the contacts I made will stay with me for a long time.’

Jamie

‘It was great to see how a tour engineer operates over different shows and how they adjust the setup from a show in Metronome to a show in Bodega for example. It was an amazing experience and shadowing Peri showed me different skills and techniques I can use for my own work in the future. Thanks again for this opportunity. It was definitely one to remember!’
