Industry Week 2020 – Day 5

Friday March 6, 2020

This week has absolutely flown by! On our final day we’ve had some more fantastic talks to end the week on a high – let’s have a look at some of the highlights…

Will Becher

The animator and Director at Aardman Animations has worked on the likes of Shaun the Sheep Movie, Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon and more.

He brought a few of his favourite characters with him, including Shaun the Sheep himself, and talked through the whole process of putting an animation film together – which usually take 3-5 years!

MLC Jam

Following the success of last years session, students took part in the MLC Jam Session 2020.

They got the chance to jam with professional musicians and learn to perfect their performance technique.

Genix

The trance DJ and music producer talked to students about how to get their music listened to by the people that can make a difference.

He told students to experiment with their music, even if that means not always following the rules.

Julian Foddy

VFX legend, Julian Foddy spoke to students about the creation and application of visual effects in film.

He talked about his most recent work on the film Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Suzanne Chesterton

The music & radio producer talked about working alongside the likes of Paul van Dyk, and how important radio is for budding musicians and artists.

She told the students they need to be passionate about their music, and not to be afraid to knock on doors.

Steve Austin

Having worked for the likes of Sony, Ubisoft and more, Steve had some valuable advice for our games students.

He talked about how to get into the games industry after studying whilst trying to build up work experience for your CV.

We’ve also enjoyed talks from Lee Wrathe, a portfolio review workshop with Harvey Parker, and songwriting camps with Ajay Henry.
