In 2021 we became the first in the UK to launch an BSc (Hons) Esports Production degree and announced our plans to build a new £5 million esports venue and content creation facility called Confetti X. We intend for 2022 to be another landmark year for Confetti as we continue in our mission to make Nottingham a major hub for UK esports.
Kicking off the new year, in January 2022 we’ll be hosting two exciting esports events. The first is a ‘Halo Clash Series’ international esports tournament for charity. It is set to be world’s first live studio event in 2022 for the newly released Halo Infinite game. The event will be supported by multiple UK esports personalities including Leon Gids, Jacky, Blank, Lethal_HT and Iain Chambers.
Our Halo Clash Series will be followed by the hugely popular ‘Six Memevitational’, a global celebration of the Rainbow Six Siege game with the biggest casters, pro players and content creators involved from around the world. The tongue in cheek titled ‘Six Memevitational’ tournament, offers a more light-hearted approach to Siege esports. The first Six Memevitation tournament took place earlier this year following the delay of the 2021 Six Invitational. Confetti’s very own HE esports tutor, Jakub ‘Atroix’ Szmyt, was responsible for setting up this new fan favourite alongside UK host/caster, Derry ‘Dezachu’ Holt, and UK coach/analyst, Jack ‘Fresh’ Thomas Allen.
Both event production teams will be collaborating closely with our Esports Production and Live and Technical Events students on Do It For Real opportunities. The experience will provide them with real-life, hands-on experience, plus access and opportunity to a network of contacts within the global esports industry.
These are just two of the events we’ve got coming up in 2022, with plans already in place to welcome back the British Esports Association to campus in June 2022 to host the 2021-22 British Esports Championships!
