Industry Week 2019 – Day 3

Wednesday March 6, 2019

Look at that – it’s day 3 already! Today we’ve had yet more inspiring talks and impressive demos. Have a look at just a few of the events we’ve enjoyed watching and what the highlights have been so far…

Award-winning producer Loic Gaillard came to work in the studio with our students today as unfortunately Andy Rogers was unable to make it. Loic gave some great insight into what it takes to record a live session, and spoke about his company Motor Museum and their experiences working with huge acts including The Kooks, The Arctic Monkeys, Oasis and many more.

Musicians are Doin’ it for Themselves panel saw industry experts discussing the merits of signing for record labels versus a more ‘DIY’ approach to releasing and promoting your own music. A fascinating talk for our music and live events students!

Deborah Haywood paid a visit today, and delivered a stonking talk for students on her career in film. Spanning from her school days right the way through to her feature film – and her career ever since – she had students laughing and inspired. Thank you, Deborah!

We’ve also enjoyed events from music tutor James Bentley, a talk and Q&A from writer and performer Tristan Bernays, a talk by programmer Ben Parbury, a MLC Academy event and jam session, a talk on sustainability in production from writer and producer Dan Jackson, a music panel, a gaming tournament and to top it all off, Challenge Cup featuring King of Iron Fist. What a finish to the day!
