Second-year Games Art degree students have created some brilliant work in aid of SpecialEffect – a UK-based gaming charity supporting people with disabilities – and we wanted to showcase their work for everyone to enjoy through an online platform.
The students were set a creative brief to produce their own industry-inspired artwork in aid of SpecialEffect’s fantastic work within the disabled community, and have produced some amazing pieces which are all displayed within the online exhibition.
The exhibition aims to raise money through donations, as well as pushing awareness of the charity and all of the fantastic work they do. To make a donation, visit SpecialEffect’s website.
Games Art Tutor, Amelia Roberts, explained why this project was so important – not only to the students, but to the charity they were supporting.
“It’s a great pleasure to be showcasing the work of our Second Year Games Art students in this exciting online teaser exhibition! Our Games Artists were asked to work independently to produce artwork influenced by, or in the style of, a popular gaming franchise(s) in line with industry standards and legal frameworks.
Working alongside SpecialEffect to raise awareness of the incredible work they do, enriching the lives of so many, and to deliver this exciting brief has been a wonderful experience.”
The students involved in the exhibition were proud to be a part of something that makes a difference, while also allowing them to showcase their talents. Student Isabel Odegbami had a really positive experience:
“I am honoured and happy to have been able to create artwork in support of such a great and heart-warming charity. What SpecialEffect does is bring back the pureness of fun and inspiration to people lives – to have collaborated with them gives me 100% more pride and fulfillment in the work I have created.”
