On Friday 9 March, our BSc (Hons) Music and Audio Technology students worked with Industry Week 2019 guest Rob Green’s team in Studio 1 to record strings and backing vocals for an upcoming album.
This incredible opportunity featured Rob’s producer Glen Scott (who has worked with James Morrison, James Blunt, Craig David and more), a backing singer from Martha Reeves’ touring group and two previous contestants from ITV’s The Voice. A representative from Redfire Music was also present who represents both Gregory Porter and Rob Green!
3rd Door Sound Engineer Tom Smith spoke highly of our Music Technology students:
“The students did fantastically well throughout, especially working with the demands of a high-paced session. Both of them were very professional with a fantastic attitude and I would happily work with either of them again. They handled the pressure very well and I’d say they were a credit to themselves and to Confetti.”
Our students will be fully credited on the final release of the album, giving them great experience of working in the music industry, and an end product they can reference on their CVs when they leave Confetti.
Student Rob thoroughly enjoyed the experience:
“It was great to work on a real session in the space (Metronome) and get a taste for what it will be like working with clients. Tom and Mark were both really good at including us and getting us to drive the session while also helping when we needed it.
It was definitely one of the best experiences I’ve had at my five years at Confetti – challenging but rewarding.”
Our music technology students gain valuable experience throughout the year thanks to opportunities like this. Interested in a career in the music industry? Check out our music technology college-level and degree courses – like what you see? Book your place on an upcoming open day.
