Today we welcomed music producer and DJ Conner Turner to our brand new Contemporary Music and Live Events Hub. He was giving a remixing workshop to our FdSc Audio and Music Technology students in our newly opened Studio 2.
The session was very useful for our students wanting to learn about manipulating sound, and it was a great experience for them to be taught by someone so involved in the UK music industry.
“We explored the art of remixing and how it’s done. I explained briefly a bit about myself and my background, but more importantly how I progressed in the industry so hopefully, it can help the next generation of producers.” Conner Turner
Conner was one half of NVOY – a London based duo signed to Black Butter Records/Sony Music – before their split at the end of 2017. Their Aurum EP grasped support from Radio 1 following their Minimix for Annie Mac and their track ‘Golden Touch’ was recognised as the station’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’.
He’s the first external guest to teach in our new home for music and events and he’s very impressed with our new studio facilities:
“It’s amazing (the studio). I’ve taught in a lot of spaces across the UK and facilities have been good but this is so impressive. The way the studio is laid out is great, it’s really well set up. There’s really not anywhere in Nottingham that’s on this level!”
Conner will be at Industry Week in March to give our students songwriting masterclasses! Catching the ear of a distracted listener has never been more difficult. Join this session to learn just what it takes to take your songwriting skills to the next level.
