On 6 & 7 June we welcomed family, friends and industry professionals to the HE Centre, Antenna and our new home for music and live events to watch, listen, test and play the fantastic work of this year’s degree students. They showcased their diverse range of creative skills through complex final year projects before ending with a fantastic awards evening.
Students met with industry professionals
On Wednesday, our students welcomed industry guests to view and experience their exhibited work. This gave them the opportunity to network with established members of the creative industries with many guests keeping their contact information for future opportunities after graduation. The VIP event was also a chance for everyone to see our new live venue space – Metronome – for the first time. Our Live and Technical Events students provided an installation, showcasing their talents which have developed throughout the year. There was also a projection of the new space to illustrate to the public what it will look like when completed in October later this year.
General view
On Tuesday, college-level, degree students and members of the public walked around the general view to see the work of our talented creatives. They saw performances, studio demonstrations and technical skills from our Music Performance and Audio and Music Technology students in the Contemporary Music and Live Events Hub – including a device that used mushrooms to trigger different sounds.
Our Games art and Games Technology students exhibited their artwork and playable work which was tested by members of the public who provided some great feedback. Our film, TV and visual effects students showcased their digital and physical portfolios for Nottingham to see, from short films to animations accessible by augmented reality! Our postgraduate students exhibited their year-long projects for people to test as they approach the final stages of the course.
Degree Showcase Awards
Our Degree Showcase ended with an awards evening hosted at the Antenna business hub, where 30 students collected awards for their hard work over the course of the year. The evening was hosted by Gem FM and Notts TV‘s Iain Chambers, who was full of jokes and ringside announcements. Proud tutors and elated students made it an evening full of gags and heartfelt speeches.
