In January 2019, a group of our HE students and tutors touched down in New York City for a week of exploring, photography and creative inspiration.
Spending a week in New York is many people’s dreams, and this became a reality for a group of our Film Production degree students this January. The week’s activities were hugely varied, spanning from workshops to photography shoots and – of course – sampling the local cuisine.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Visiting Rockefeller Plaza’s Christmas tree and ice rink
- Photography shoot at Times Square
- Visiting New York Film Academy for digital cinematography lesson with Danielle Napolitano – cinematographer of 6 features and many music videos and short films
- Going to Battery Park to get the ferry to the Statue of Liberty
- Visiting Ground Zero
- Spending an afternoon at the Museum of Moving Image
We asked BSc Film Production Technology student Christie Ellis about her experience of the trip:
“I loved seeing people who never would have met during their time at Confetti, become friends because of the NYC trip. When we went to NYFA, we did a film workshop and this is when all of us got together and worked really well as a team. We will definitely be using each other for some shoots in the future.”

With the resounding success of this trip, we’re hopeful that another trip like this will happen again – so if you fancy going on a trip with Confetti, keep your eyes peeled for future updates.
