On Sunday 9 October Hockley Hustle will take over the venues of Hockley, showcasing all the best musical talent Nottingham has to offer, raising money for some great causes in the process.
Throughout the years we have worked closely with the Hustle, providing our students with a number of opportunities to ‘do it for real’ – former Confetti student Jamie Garton will headline our ‘upstairs’ stage at The National Videogame Arcade this year having previously performed as an earlier act in 2014.
This year isn’t any different! Alfie Eyden, a Confetti student, has already been working on the event since May, showcasing his talent as a Web Editor & Graphic Designer and was the talent behind this amazing banner!
Tommy Farmyard, the festival director couldn’t be happier with our students’ contribution, saying:
“The Confetti students have been fantastic. They really are a talented bunch and have contributed in many ways and we believe that their support has been invaluable in creating what we hope will be the best Hustle to date”.
So what roles will our students be doing this year?
Opportunities for you
This year, we hope to have Confetti students at each venue, fulfilling stage manager and sound technician live and technical roles, ensuring every venue is set-up correctly and runs smoothly for the performers. HE Film & TV students will be applying their skills developed from their course to document the event – they will be filming at a number of venues and around the festival, then given the responsibility to edit the resulting Hockley Hustle video, set as an industry brief!

Your course leaders will be looking for volunteers to fulfill these roles, so don’t pass up on this great opportunity – working on an event like this will look great on your CV!
Other roles for you
If these roles don’t apply to you there are still loads of opportunities to be involved, so if you’re over 18 you can volunteer! The roles available will involve helping out on venue doors, checking wristbands and giving people information – essentially you will be making sure the event runs smoothly throughout the day. You’ll have loads of fun and be able to enjoy the majority of the festival before and after your shift – not bad for a few hours of your time.
