Women in Games award: Confetti’s been shortlisted!

News just in, we’re in the running for a Women in Games Global Award! Thanks to the efforts of our Confetti tutors, course leaders and curriculum team leads, we’ve been shortlisted in the ‘Games or Esports Diversity Initiative in Education’ category!

Women in Games (WIGJ) is a UK-based community interest group on a mission to empower women, from all ethnicities and orientations, to achieve their full potential in the games and esports industries.

We are a proud WIGJ education ambassador and each academic year, we host a series of WIGJ social events for women, non binary and ally college and degree games students. We also secure a number of female speakers for events like Confetti Industry Week, and host an annual game jam on International Women’s Day. The events are organised and championed by Confetti Games Tutor and Postgraduate Course Leader, Kim Western (pictured left), with the support of BA (Hons) Games Art tutor, Amelia Roberts (pictured right), and we’ve been shortlisted off the back of last year’s “Coffee and Cookies Christmas WIGJ event” – the event included a potluck, game jam planning, developers chat, and a Mario Kart tournament!

With the new academic year approaching, we’re looking forward to another fun-filled term of WIGJ social events. Fingers crossed we take home the award!

Are you interested in studying games at foundation degree or degree level? We still have places available on our courses through Clearing. To find out more, please call 0115 848 6000 to speak to the Admissions team at our partners Nottingham Trent University.
