Confetti students enjoyed day three of Industry Week 2021 today, with some amazing guests in the line-up. Take a look at some of the highlights below!
Do It For Real Games
We spoke to previous Confetti students Abbey Plumb, Liam Turton and George Patchett who are all now ‘Doing It For Real’ in the industry. Abbey is a senior technical program manager at Unity Technologies, Liam is a 3D artist specialising in creating visually impressive vehicles, and George now works in Promod Esports.
The former students spoke about why they chose Confetti and their experience with us. They all commended our Do It For Real ethos, something Confetti is very passionate about. They also touched on their thoughts on rejection when applying for roles and how to deal with it, and also how to stand out within the industry.
Make sure you go and follow them on any relevant social media channels to ask any further questions – they’ll be happy to hear from you!
Paul Campion
We were lucky enough to speak to Paul – an amazing film director whose multi-award-winning short films Night of the Hell Hamsters, Eel Girl and The Naughty List have screened at almost every major genre film festival worldwide.
Paul spoke about his education, right the way from his younger years to university, and how he has always been very driven and known what he wanted to do. Paul spoke about many amazing jobs he has worked on, such as Lord of the Rings where he was a texture painter.
Miles Leonard
In this session we heard from two legends of the local and international music scene. Radio Nottingham’s Dean Jackson – the man responsible for raising the profile of so many local musicians, interviewed Miles Leonard – a UK Executive who sits right at the top of the music industry tree. Chairman of Parlophone & Warner Bros. Records UK, Miles has previously worked for Virgin Records, EMI Records, Roadrunner Records and been credited as signing and breaking artists including Gorillaz, Coldplay, Tinie Tempah, and for reviving the career of Kylie Minogue by signing her with her single Spinning Around to Parlophone.
