Between Tuesday 26 March – Saturday 30 March, our Live and Technical Events students developed the lighting, audio and video technology for TV Workshop’s ‘Wendy and Peter Pan’ production at Metronome.
Here at Confetti, we’re committed to our ‘Do It For Real’ mantra, providing students with real, live projects for them to work on and allowing them to experience working environments alongside studying.
This particular project was brought to Confetti by Ian Smith from the Television Workshop, and we were challenged with bringing his vision to life. Our lecturer, Andy Atkin, pulled the crew together and worked closely with Ian, the student team and Metronome venue head technician, Bryan Rankin, to ensure that the show worked and was a success.
The students delivered a total of six shows throughout this week in March, and were involved in all technical aspects of the production behind the scenes including lighting, sound effects, music editing and even visual effects.
Some of our Visual Effects Production and postgraduate students were involved with the project, where they created animated CG content to extend the on-stage sets with the use of the Video Wall. Students used a wealth of techniques and software – both 2D and 3D – to create the content, and worked closely with director Ian Smith and the set design team to create a coherent visual theme for the show.

“Working on the production was an excellent opportunity for our students to experience the discipline of working on a theatre show in our venue, Metronome. Working alongside their tutor, Andy Atkin, students took the knowledge and experience gained on their Live & Technical Events course to design, rig and operate a complex lighting set up, large LED video screen and surround sound audio systems.”
