Stress Awareness Week: 4-8 November

Beige background with grey squiggle. Text reads 'Stress Awareness Week: 4-8 November'

Stress is something we all face from time to time. This could be due to major life events, our studies or employment, family and relationships, or something  more minor such as missing your bus.

Stress Awareness Week gives us an opportunity to have an open conversation about the impact of stress. It is a time to remove the guilt, shame, and stigma around stress and its effects, and open up about our mental and emotional state with friends, families, colleagues, and professionals.

What can you do to manage your stress?

We asked students and staff what helps them de-stress and have shared some suggestions below:

  • Listen to Lofi music
  • Listen to a podcast
  • Create a vision board – reduce stress about current challenges and focus on the bigger picture
  • Spend time with friends
  • Have a bath
  • Play video games
  • Go for a walk
  • Watch your favourite film
  • Do a mindfulness activity like colouring or crocheting

Activities you can get involved in:

  • A walk along the South Bank, Tuesday 5 November, 4pm-5pm, meet in the London Social Space
  • Craft and Chat, Monday 4 November, Wednesday 6 November and Friday 8 November, 11:30am-1pm, in the London Social Space
  • Arts and Crafts session, Thursday 7 November, 1:30pm-2:30pm in DMH Café (Nottingham)
