Did you know chart toppers Philip George, Jake Bugg and Glastonbury performers Dog is Dead all have something in common? Confetti.
What a week it has been for Ex-Confetti student and Nottingham DJ Philip George. The 21-year-old reached No.1 in the Official UK Dance Chart with his track ‘Wish You Were Mine’, a 90s house track that samples Stevie Wonder’s My Cherie Amour.
However, that’s not all. The DJ also beat the likes of Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Take That, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Olly Murs to grab No.2 in the Official UK Singles Chart. ‘Wish You Were Mine’ is currently the most Shazammed song of the past week with users hurrying to identify the hit. Stevie Wonder himself has even given the song his blessing and it’s also scheduled to be released in the US via a partnership deal with Motown (Stevie Wonder’s record label).
Philip’s house bassline and melodies track went viral on the artist’s Soundcloud before being picked up by independent label 3 Beat, who released the track and got the former Confetti student signed to their label. Radio 1 plays soon followed and the track is starting to go global!
The Chilwell star will be making his Nottingham debut as a DJ at Stealth and the Rescue Rooms on January 17. Don’t miss out!
