Industry Week 2020 is just over a month away, and we’re thrilled to be able to announce names of some of the fantastic guests who will be joining us this year. Prepare to be excited!
Guests from around the UK will be coming to give talks, perform demos and run workshops with students across all curriculum areas.
Here are just a few of the guests we’re excited to announce for Industry Week 2020…
Alan McGee
Alan has been a record label owner, musician, manager, and music blogger. He co-founded the independent Creation Records label, running it from 1983 until its closure in 1999, since which he has set up further massively successful music labels. During his career, he has signed and worked with bands that have literally defined generations – Oasis, Primal Scream, The Hives, The Libertines and many more.
His life has proved so fascinating, that Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle is making a film about him; filming for biopic Creation Stories began in 2019.
Jeanie Finlay
Jeanie Finlay is one of Britain’s most distinctive documentary makers. Her acclaimed films tell intimate stories to international audiences, whether inviting them behind the scenes of Teesside’s last record shop in her home town in Sound it Out, to share the extraordinary journey of a British transgender man pregnant with his child in Seahorse, or onto the set of the world’s biggest television show – Game Of Thrones: The Last Watch.
Her films, although varied in subject matter, are all made with the same steel and heart, sharing an empathetic approach to bringing overlooked and untold stories to the screen.
Nick Raphael
Nick Raphael is Co-President of world-famous Capitol Records.
Nick started his career as a DJ, before moving into the world of A&R. During his time at various record labels, he was responsible for signing and launching the careers of internationally renowned and successful artists including Jay-Z, Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, Paloma Faith, Armand Van Helden, New Order, Aloe Black, Olly Murs and many, many more.
