Confetti students team up with NHS and Nottingham Forest to film 10,000 steps campaign

Last October, our BSc (Hons) Film Production Technology students were recruited by Nottingham Forest Community Trust and Nottingham Hospitals Charity to create a video advert promoting their ‘October Step Challenge’.

Mexico may seem like an unlikely place for a project based in Nottingham to begin, however due to a summer placement trip, that’s exactly where Film Production student, James Plumb, found himself when the first production meetings took place for a project that would later be aired during Premier League football matches. Joined remotely by fellow students Aimee Benson and Charlotte Southwell, the trio got to work in producing a video advert that encouraged people to get fit and raise funds for good causes.

What is the October Step Challenge?

The step challenge is a charity initiative that challenges participants to walk 10,000 steps a day throughout October, raising money for Nottingham Children’s Hospital and Nottingham Forest Community Trust.

The money raised goes straight back to helping young people in your local community and young patients at the Children’s Hospital. You can watch the advert (created by our students) below.

Doing It For Real

At Confetti, we pride ourselves on creating genuine industry experience for our students, offering them the opportunity to work with real clients in a professional setting. James, Aimee and Charlotte were at the helm of this project, organising production meetings, pitching ideas to the client, as well as using Confetti’s equipment to film the final product.

Following on from initial meetings, the team decided on a plan that would see them film over two days. The shoot took place at Queen’s Medical Centre and the other at the Nottingham Forest ground. To ensure everything ran smoothly, roles were assigned within the team. James Plumb would direct whilst colleagues Aimee and Charlotte would take charge as assistant producers.

You can listen to the trio talking through the experience in the video below.
