Confetti’s 2014 Degree Showcase is backed by industry

Thursday 12th June marks Confetti’s annual Degree Showcase event. Exhibiting the work of the next generation of creative and technical talent, the event is an opportunity for industry professionals to browse  work and discover for themselves why Confetti graduates are the best. 

Featuring graduates across Music, TV & Film and Gaming; employers looking to recruit innovative and new talent will be in the right place. Providing an exclusive opportunity to explore students’ work, experience how it was created and gain insights into their inspiration; exhibitions range from music technology showcasing interactive software applications to the chance to play original games that students have developed.

TV & Film subject leader Jamie Cash has told guests to: “come along and prepare to learn, laugh, shriek, and cheer at some outstanding work from our students!”

This is mirrored in the chance to watch students work live on production in Confetti’s flagship recording facilities, which has seen a host of big name acts such as the Artic Monkeys and Jake Bugg cut tracks. In addition to this, following students ‘Dragon’s Den’ style experience; guests have the opportunity to experience the creative businesses and products pitched to a panel of industry professionals.

Sponsors of this year’s event include Notts TV, Nottingham-based games designers Legendary Games and sound system specialist, Funktion 1.

 

To add to the experience this year, guests will have the chance to explore the new Higher Education centre, a multi-million pound development; the space boasts a full media suite as well as a mastering room and edit suite with cutting edge industry-standard equipment.

Head of Higher Education Alison Gregson explains how the Degree Showcase has grown to be an annual event that’s the highlight of the Confetti calendar. “It’s not just an opportunity for students to exhibit their hard work to family and friends, it is an invaluable chance for them to mix with business professionals and secure graduate jobs” she says. “This is really where Confetti shines, our links with the employers right from day one means that our graduates have all the tools and experience to hit the ground running.”

As well as the day event, the evening event is a hugely celebratory affair for students and their families. The awards range from achievement in 3D design to the rising star of TV & film, not forgetting the highly sought after Confetti student of the year, presented by Managing Director of Confetti Media Group, Craig Chettle.

This year’s host is Notts TV presenter Becky Sheeran who will present the awards on behalf of Confetti.
