Confetti Technical Events students raise £700 for charity

Confetti Technical Events students put on four productions to raise money for The Friary, Young Minds, Broxtowe Youth Homelessness and When You Wish Upon A Star.

Looking at the image above you would think it was done by professionals, right? Right! Our Level 3 Year 1 Technical Events students have been busy all year round learning everything they need to know for the basics of event production. Covering all bases of event planning, production management and event theory, this course has given our students the knowledge to provide all requirements to organise and run an extremely successful event (we may be bias). Channelling everything they have learnt over the past academic year, our Technical Events students put on their own end of year shows, proving that this cohort can work to a professional level.

To round off the year, the students showcased their talent by professionally producing a series of four different evening events. Touching all areas of this production they got hands on in selecting bands, agreeing and setting up dates and times, creating advertising and ticketing the event and finally, choosing a charity to raise money for. The charities this cohort have selected are:

The Friary, a local charity working to empower homeless and vulnerable adults to rebuild their lives by offering practical services, advice and emotional support.

Young Minds, a mental health charity providing young people with the tools they need to look after their mental health and empower adults around them to be able to support in the best way.

Broxtowe Youth Homelessness, who provide support for young people in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire who are facing, and are at risk of facing homelessness. Their aim is to prevent homelessness.

When You Wish Upon A Star, a local charity with a simple mission, to grant wishes for children living with life-threatening illness. Providing time away and giving children and their families something to look forward to through times of uncertainty.

Throughout the four productions that have taken place this year, our students have raised over £700 for these local charities.

We’re really proud of the progress of our Technical Events students have achieved in their first year. Our year 1’s have proven that they can work in a professional setting and go the extra mile to ensure they put on high level productions, demonstrating that they are well on their way to industry, or moving on to university education.
