So, the new academic year is finally here and we’d like to welcome our brand-new and returning students. To celebrate your arrival, we’ve taken over Broad Street, Nottingham’s hot spot, for a selection of Confetti Exclusives. Alongside our Broad Street Takeover, we will be hosting a FRESH Welcome Evening at Antenna Bar and Restaurant.
Here’s your guide to Fresher’s week.
11am – 2pm NTU Freshers’ Fair
Head over to NTU’s Student Union building where you’ll find out everything NTU has to offer. You can join a wide range of societies and sports clubs, discover more about Nottingham and get stacks of freebies from local and national brands.
4 – 7pm FRESH Welcome Evening
4pm – 5pm Games; Art and Tech
5pm – 6pm Film, TV and VFX
6pm – 7pm Music and Live Events
Here at the welcome evening you’ll get the chance to meet your course leaders, your tutors and finally your fellow students. There will be gaming stations (PlayStation and Xbox) for you to enjoy, as well as showreels from the work of last years’ students, giving you a taste of things to come. The bar will be open and free food will be available – so don’t eat anything beforehand!
7pm National Videogame Arcade hosts a ‘Completathon’
The NVA are hosting a gaming event where you’re given an allocated amount of time to complete, or get as far as you can into a game chosen by the NVA team. The event will start dead on 7pm so don’t be late, we don’t want you missing out!

The Broadway is one of the coolest places to watch a film in Nottingham, and it’s right on our doorstep! From indie films and documentaries to the latest blockbusters, The Broadway brings you quality entertainment as well as good food and a lovely terrace – it’s a great place to hang out. If that isn’t enough the chairs a super comfy and it’s not dead pricy!
Offer: Broadway are offering you cinema tickets for £3.50 (Usually £6.50) not only for Thursday but Friday as well. Check out their cinema diary to see what great movies are on screen at those dates.
Rough Trade are an independent business dealing with great music – it’s not just a record shop but a label and gig venue as well. With loads of great events here there’s always something on for you to enjoy and if not, it’s still a great spot to chill with their outdoor seating area.
Offer: There’s going to be a photo booth and by showing your Confetti card you’ll be able to print your photos out for free. You’re also entitled to a free drink at their ‘Drink & Draw’ Illustration Social – an event encouraging all illustrators of any quality to come with materials and simply draw, exchange ideas and socialise with the group. The event on Thursday is from 7pm – 11pm, so don’t miss out.
Wild Clothing, Nottingham’s longest running independent fashion clothing store, brings you a mixture of vintage and new clothing. Expect clothing from the 70s right up to the present day, as well as a few rare items dating back to the 40s! Whether you’re looking for a one off item, or just something cool and stylish this place is for you.

Plates Records is a vinyl record shop, dubplate cutting studio and music community, focusing on keeping alive the things that inspire creativity and freedom of expression.
