Confetti college students headline sold out BBC Introducing show

Tuesday September 27, 2022

Indie-rock band, The Public Eye, rocked their way through an unforgettable set, headlining BBC Introducing at Metronome.

On Wednesday 21 September, a sold out crowd descended on Metronome to catch some of the East Midland’s most exciting up and coming bands. Four fantastic acts took to the stage, including Drive Through Hazy, ALT BLK ERA, The Rosadocs, and, of course, The Public Eye.

Hosted by local legend, Dean Jackson, BBC Introducing (East Midlands) work to seek out, support, and promote talented new artists looking to break-out into the industry. As well as a weekly radio slot playing the latest tracks around, BBC Introducing also host live performances where artists get the opportunity to take to the stage and introduce their sound to an eager audience of music lovers looking to discover their new favourite band.

Introducing The Public Eye

The Public Eye are a four-piece indie rock band formed in late 2021, consisting of Joey Greener (vocals, rhythm guitar), Jonah Radford (lead guitar) Cavan Brady (bass guitar) and Zack Bednall (drums).

Originally from Derby, the band have one goal, and that’s to make the UK public fall in love with guitar based music all over again. Catchy vocal hooks and distinctive guitar riffs are at the forefront of the band’s sound. If we could pick an artist to send them on tour with, Arctic Monkeys would instantly be the band that comes to mind.

In spite of being a fairly new band, The Public Eye have already amassed an impressive following, receiving support from BBC Introducing and hopping on festivals like Y NOT? In 2022, the band made their BBC Radio 6 debut with their track ‘Out of Line’ on Don Letts’ Culture Clash show.

Alongside their career, members of the band also study on our BTEC Level 2 Music Performance & Technology course where they hone their skills and knowledge, ready to hit the stage.
