Drawing on its extensive Creative Industry contacts; a unique college set bang in the middle of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, is getting ready to welcome over 60 industry professionals to its annual Industry Week.
With top guests from across Music, TV & Film and Gaming; Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies (ICT) students will be treated to talks, workshops and seminars from the likes of Jamal Edwards from SBTV, Radio 1Extra’s Mistajam and award-winning director – Shane Meadows.
Running from the 3rd-7th March 2014, the week is the most important in the college’s student calendar; the only one of its kind in the UK and gives students a real insight into the industries they aspire to join; learning tips, tricks and insider knowledge to help them on their way to getting job-ready.
20 years as educators
To add to the excitement this year – Confetti ICT is celebrating 20 years as an educational establishment and has organised a line-up to reflect this milestone.
Managing Director Craig Chettle explains how Industry Week is arguably one of the most exciting and valuable teaching experiences that a student can have.
“Our students choose to study with us for many reasons,” he says. “Our up to date technology, our industry experienced teaching staff and access to a wealth of creative business all under one roof.
On top of all that, for one week a year, our timetable stops and students meet with some of the most successful industry experts in the UK.
It’s an invaluable experience and one that many of our graduates still talk about. We’ve had over 10,000 students through our doors since they opened in 1994 – this year’s Industry Week line-up really reflects how far we’ve come in 20 years. ”
Top names
Gaming students will hear from a number of industry professionals, including the likes of BAFTA-winning Jonathan Smith, Hollie Bennett from Playstation and Andy Davis from Rockstar Games – the company behind the hugely successfully Grand Theft Auto.
Top Urban artists Moxie and DJ Switch will speak to Music Technology students about how they’ve achieved their success and top tips for getting recognised.
With many award-winning films under his belt, ‘This is England’ Director Shane Meadows knows a thing or two about creating amazing cinematography. Shane will be sharing his knowledge with Confetti’s film & TV students to help them hone their skills in an interview with the Independent’s film critic Jason Solomons.
Jake Garratt, 18 from Mansfield is a Technical Events student and is looking forward to getting up close and personal with some of his industry heroes.
