Feel The Beat Pro #001 educates students about the Live and Touring Industry

feel the beat pro

On Monday 22 October, our new venue Metronome held its first seminar, focusing on working on live events and the touring industry.

Our students were inspired by a panel of experienced industry experts who discussed areas across Live, Marketing, Publishing and more.

Find out more about our guests:

Jess Kinn (Booking Agent at Coda agency)

Jess Kinn has worked with some of the biggest acts including Shawn Mendes, Faithless, Hey Charlie and Dusky Grey. Her grandfather also founded NME in 1952 so she was always destined for a career in music.

Mark Stone (Tour Manager at Pop Tours)

Since 2009 Pop Tours has toured with bands all across Europe including Spring King, Haiku Salut, Temples, Fat White Family, Menace Beach and Pulled Apart By Horses. Alongside this Mark also hires out vans as well as offering services to provide a touring crew including Sound Engineer, Backline Tech, Merch Seller and Tour Manager.

Harriet Wright and Tom Wright (Director at Accept Management – Events and logistics)

With 20 years experience in the entertainment industry, Harriet and Tom have worked on events including major racecourse shows and British Summer Time at Hyde Park. The number of large-scale concerts they have worked on runs into the hundreds covering everything from advancing and planning shows, providing production and on-site management.

Our students weren’t the only ones impressed. We spoke to a few of the panel afterwards…

Mark Stone, Tour Manager: “Metronome, whether it be the recording studio, rehearsal space or venue, was an exciting, inviting and impressive hub for all things creative. It was a pleasure to provide some experience and insight for the exciting young talent that will be the future of the music industry.”

Jess Kinn, Booking Agent: “I was super impressed with all the equipment and facilities the university has to offer. It feels like a really inspiring space to create music. It’s important for aspiring artists to work hard and make sure they bring something special and unique to their music.”

Confetti and Metronome will be holding five more Feel The Beat Pro seminars throughout the year; the next event is on Monday 19 November and will focus on social analytics and streaming. The event is open for students and the public, you just need to reserve your place on the free ticket link below.
