Confetti student, Dan Ottewell, takes center stage at Metronome

Wednesday October 25, 2023

One of our talented college students, Dan Ottewell recently headlined his own show at Metronome, our live events venue in Nottingham. Level 3 Music Technology learner Dan absolutely rocked the stage with his unique sound and incredible guitar solos. Read on to find out more about this rising music prodigy and check out some great photos from his gig.

Dan kept the whole crowd engaged throughout his set, which was a combination of high-energy electric guitar songs, supported by his drummer, as well as a few slower, acoustic guitar tracks.

The gig marked the celebration of Dan’s achievements over the years, which included performances at the renowned Glastonbury Festival 2023 and more recently, the release of his latest single ‘Moon Project’. Recorded at the world-famous Abbey Road Institute, the track’s a dynamically rich acoustic-led song that showcases elements of indie and Britpop. It recently got its first national radio play on John Kennedy’s Radio X show, check it out below:

The stage was shared with some amazing support acts, from folk/indie singer-songwriter, Ben Mark Smith and Derby band, The Public Eye, some of which are Confetti alumni.

Dan’s journey has been so inspiring to follow. After becoming the youngest artist to sell out a major Nottingham venue at just 15 years old, he has since gone on to perform at even more impressive venues and festivals and headlining at Metronome is another memorable milestone. We caught up with Dan after his performance and here’s what he had to say:

“It was insane to play at Metronome because I’ve seen so many great bands perform here, so it’s incredible for me to experience that too.

“It was up there with my best shows, we were buzzing, the Public Eye and Ben were fantastic and most importantly the crowd were amazing. I’ve already had great reviews about the gig.

“I had so much fun, thank you for having me!”

Incase you missed it, check out some of the highlights from the gig:

It’s really exciting to see Dan’s hard work and passion paying off and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him!
