Confetti student performs at Glastonbury

Friday September 1, 2023

Level 3 Music Technology student, Dan Ottewell, has been making waves in the UK music scene and is now set to play his first headline show at Metronome, following two energetic performances at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival.

“It gives me access to more tools to help refine my sound”

Dan embraced Confetti’s ‘Do It For Real’ attitude where, in lockdown, he sent a demo off to all his favourite artists including the Levellers, Frank Turner, Ferocious Dog and others. His proactive approach paid off when he received valuable advice and support from all of them, especially Ferocious Dog, whos members Dan Booth and Luke Wheatley reached out and offered to produce his debut EP.

Performing since he was 15, Dan is no stranger to Nottingham’s best music venues and has played at The Bodega, Rough Trade, The Old Cold Store, just to name a few. Sold out shows and high ticket sales opened the door to supporting local Nottingham legends Terrorvision and Ferocious Dog, on several occasions, before going onto some of the UK’s most popular festivals including Boomtown, Bearded Theory and the Beautiful Days Festival.

Dan’s brand new single, ‘Moon Project’, recorded at Abbey Road Institute, London, is due to be released soon, on 29 September.

When he’s not on the road, Dan studies on our Level 3 Music Technology and has taken full advantage of the facilities and opportunities Confetti has to offer. Talking about it more, here’s what he had to say:

“The reason I picked this course was because it helped me to practice my recording and production skills, so that I can make better music in the studio and work with producers in the studio…It gives me access to more tools to help refine my sound”

“Confetti has given me the opportunity to socialise and get to know a lot of other young people in the Nottingham music scene and it’s a great hub to be connected to other Nottingham artists.”

To celebrate his year of accomplishments, Dan has a huge upcoming gig at our very own Metronome venue on 13 October, where he will be supported by singer-songwriter, Dan Donnelly, of the Levellers and rising Nottingham band The Public Eye.

Tickets are on sale now and are expected to fly, so get your hands on one while you still can!
