Confetti at ESI London 2023: Highlights

Friday October 27, 2023

We’re thrilled to have been part of this year’s Esports Insider (ESI) London event, the world’s premier esports and games industry festival. Held in October at BOXPARK Wembley in London, the event was a great opportunity for our staff and students to showcase Confetti’s esports expertise. Read on to find out more about our involvement.

What is ESI London

ESI is a dynamic player in the esports world. Their mission revolves around advancing the esports industry with integrity and professionalism. Through a range of activities like events, media, agency services, and news platforms, ESI bridges the gap between esports insiders and those new to the scene. They emphasise informed discussions, select knowledgeable speakers, and address the most critical topics in the global esports arena.

ESI London is an exceptional event, uniting professionals in networking, education, and content creation within the esports and video game industries. This year marked the event’s biggest turnout yet, with over 700 attendees. In an exciting expansion for 2023, ESI London introduced two groundbreaking additions: the ESI London Film Festival, bridging the gap between esports and media creativity, and Checkpoint, the premier event for the video games creator economy. As one of the UK’s leading providers in esports education, we were delighted to be part of this event and support our friends at Esports Insider. Here’s a quick word from Head of ESI Media, Morgan Ashurst on how the opportunity came to be, she said:

“At Esports Insider we have always made a considerable effort to make our events more inclusive to students. Once we knew that we were going to be delivering a live podcast exhibition booth at ESI London, we reached out to Confetti about collaborating.

“This activation is something we’ve wanted to do for some time, and who better than Confetti and their talented students to help us deliver this at the event!

“Having had a relationship with Confetti for a few years, I’ve not only seen the facilities in Nottingham and their Confetti X venue, but the quality, state-of-the-art equipment and tools they put into everything they do. With that being said, it was a no-brainer to get your team and students involved.

“Your students are the future of our industry and we believe they are capable of delivering a range of projects. We’re looking forward to lots more collaborations in the future.” – Morgan Ashurst Head of ESI Media

ESI London boasted a line-up of 50+ industry experts, including our very own Confetti Esports Manager and Higher Education Course Leader, Gin Rai. Gin was a part of a panel discussion dedicated to answering the question, ‘Is esports education ready to teach the next generation?’. This panel was moderated by Josh Williams, the Founder of NUEL, an organisation in partnership with Confetti. We work with NUEL and their parent company, GGTech Entertainment to advance opportunities for students working on their domestic and international esports tournaments – find out more about Confetti’s involvement in Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports

Working alongside our education and tech colleagues at ESI London, our BSc (Hons) Esports Production third-year students produced and delivered the live broadcast of this year’s ESI Podcast series. Sponsored by our friends at Ross Video, students managed everything, from setup to shooting, live vision, and audio mixing, and the capture of 10 podcasts featuring key delegates.

Nottingham BSc (Hons) Esports Production student, Rebecca Green took part in the event. Having already secured herself a role as NUEL’s Broadcast Manager, Rebecca’s now in the final year of her course and was keen to attend the prestigious event, she said:

We were delighted to also involve our new esports degree students studying in ESI London. Just a few short weeks into their course, they got the chance to connect with the high-level activities taking place across the two-day festival, including networking and a range of insights into the latest content creation trends.
