On Tuesday 21 May, our students won and were highly commended for awards in the Film, Animation & Digital Media, Creative Writing and Music categories at the Nottingham Young Creative Awards at Nottingham Playhouse.

Each year the Young Creative Awards are celebrated with an inspirational awards night, buzzing with the passion, talent and imagination of young people. It proved once again to be a great opportunity for young creatives to showcase their work, and to meet other creative people and businesses from the city.

Students across the board were highly commended, with Reece Jeffery – a Level 3 Film and TV student at Confetti – picking up a win in the 19 – 24 yrs old film category sponsored by Skeleton productions and Broadway cinema. The judges loved the use of glitch and collage aesthetics in Reece’s wholly original music video for Slacs Bianci, saying – “It’s daring and edgy, and the use of the fisheye lens works brilliantly with the lyrics of the song, taking the viewer on a visual stimulating journey.”

Alison Whitlock, Head of Talent Development at Confetti, spoke about the awards ceremony:

“The YCA exhibition and watching the awards ceremony itself serves to reinforce that Nottingham has a huge range of gifted, creative young talent.  It’s a privilege to be part of the judging process for the Young Creative Awards.  The standard of entries to the digital and animation category was exceptionally high this year, and choosing winners was very difficult.  Huge congratulations to all the Confetti winners and nominees – the breadth of nominations from Confetti students demonstrates Confetti is a hotbed of creative talent in the making.  Best of luck in your creative careers.”
