Industry Week 2019 – reflecting on a great week

In March 2019 we were joined by a whole host of guests from the music, media and games industries, and it’s safe to say there was a real buzz around the campus.

Across five days of events, we had some huge industry names delivering talks, demos and panel discussions, all of which our students were able to attend and be inspired by. Here, we’ve put all the best content from the week in one place so you can look back over IW19 and remember all those brilliant moments!

Highlights from IW19

Film and TV students enjoyed talks from BBC Radio 1’s Cel Spellman, VFX legends Julian Foddy and Chris Cook, and production manager for some blockbuster hits like Bohemian Rhapsody and Pride, Jennifer Wynne.

For music students, Industry Week 2019 was a really special one. With masterclasses from Aja Ireland and Loic Gaillard, a visit from BBC’s Dean Jackson, and an inspiring talk from A&R legend Dave Ambrose where he recounted just what it was like working with Duran Duran and Radiohead, both performance and tech students were able to enjoy and learn about the industry.

Throughout Industry Week, games students were inspired by talks from the likes of industry greats The Oliver Twins, Callum Hancock, Rachele Doimo, Adam Lawson of Rockstar Games (who is himself a Confetti alumni!) and many more.

The week was brought to a close with a fantastic Gamer Gamer event over at Metronome, where students were able to watch comedians playing a variety of retro video games. What a great – and hilarious – way to round off the week!

We’re also pleased to announce the winner of the best photo of IW19. The prize goes to Ross Moore from the Level 3 Music and Audio Technology course for this fantastic shot! Well done, Ross!

From all of us here at Confetti, we want to thank all the guests who came and gave us such great talks, not to mention our students who made such fantastic audiences at the events. We’re already looking forward to Industry Week 2020!
