Event Management Alumnus, Emerson Nunez Santos has landed a job at NWS Music Group following his week-long work experience over the summer.
We caught up with Emerson to hear more about his journey to NWS.
What course did you study at Confetti and what opportunities did you have available?
I completed an MA in Event Management, which proved invaluable to my growth, particularly in networking and building resilience. Although I originally came to the UK to pursue an MA in Music Business, transitioning to Event Management presented challenges that pushed me to work even harder. A key figure in my journey was Spencer Wells, an amazing professional, mentor and friend whose proactive support was instrumental in helping me achieve my goal of becoming a professional A&R—a role I am proud to hold today.
How did you feel going into your work experience week?
Amazing! It was everything I dreamed of and more. Constant conversations about music, exploring new trends, and the global perspective that NWS embodies were incredible. They genuinely focus on elevating careers to the next level and supporting musicians from all over the world. As a Mexican student in the UK, this deeply resonated with my ideals and aspirations.
What knowledge have you applied from your time at Confetti to your role?
The marketing topics from my studies proved to be particularly valuable. They provided me with a deeper understanding of some of the key aspects managed within the label, which has been incredibly helpful in my current position.
‘It’s a dream come true’
How did it feel to get offered a job from your work experience? Did you expect it?
It’s a dream come true. I never expected to have this opportunity so early in my time in the UK. I’m incredibly grateful to Nich Raphael and Charlie Moss for giving me this chance, as well as to Joe Singleton, who has been instrumental in guiding me through the A&R techniques and processes within the label.
He’s got a fantastic work ethic and is a real team player – we’re happy to have him doing things for us, and he knows there’s more to come the better he does! – Charlie Moss, NWS
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying to Confetti?
Think outside the box! Your course offers hundreds of paths to explore—find what resonates with you, take what’s valuable, and don’t hesitate to venture into new territories. Be fearless in asking questions or seeking advice from anyone because, at the end of the day, the worst answer you can get is a “no”—and you already have that if you don’t ask!
