On Wednesday 23 May, our students won awards in the Animation & Digital Media and Music categories at the 10th Nottingham Young Creative Awards at the Nottingham Playhouse.
Each year the Young Creative Awards are celebrated with an inspirational awards night, buzzing with the passion, talent and imagination of young people. It proved once again to be a great opportunity for young creatives to showcase their work, and to meet other creative people and businesses from the city.
This year creatives were restricted to ‘No Theme’, meaning that they were free to let their creativity lead on their ideas without boundaries. For the third year in a row, Confetti students dominate the Animation & Digital Media category walking home with four awards. In the Music category, Confetti students won two awards.
Teaching Practice Leader Rosie Francis was full of praise for our winners:
“We’re very proud to have two winners in the Animation and Digital Media category. In the 16-18 category, Level 3 Games Technology student Georgia Monsheimer submitted the 2D game ‘My Name is Phoenix’ which is described as a psychological adventure 2D side-scrolling platform. Georgia’s theme of how anxiety can affect daily life was superbly reflected in the game atmosphere. On first impression, it looks like a standard platform game, but scratch the surface and it becomes a creative, multi-layered, interactive world.”

“In the 19-24 category, Level 3 Visual Effects and Animation student Elle Griffiths won with her 2D animation called ‘The tale of two wolves’. She based the animation on a generations-old story of the eternal struggle between our sense of morality and the control of our emotions. Elle proves it is possible to explore themes such as mental illness in a short time frame and with powerful effect.”
