We’ve got a jam-packed programme of exciting events and opportunities throughout October to celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black individuals. From live performances and curated playlists, to trips to exhibitions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

MOBO music nights

We’re putting our staff and students in the spotlight with a number of live and streamed performances throughout October.

On Monday 14 October, 2pm-4pm and Thursday 17 October, 2pm-4pm, our college students will be performing in P2 (Metronome Nottingham). Respected Nottingham rapper, spoken word performer and podcaster, Jah Digga will be the opening act. If you can’t make the show in person, don’t worry as it will be streamed throughout the Nottingham campus and online!

On 31 October, 9am-5pm, our university students will be filming acoustic performances which will be shared in the following months.

We’ll also be hosting a music night in Antenna on 23 October, 6pm-10pm with Confetti staff on the decks, spinning their favourite records across genres and eras. Book your free ticket.

Black History Month playlists

Take a wander down the ramp in Metronome this month and you’ll be able to see our spotlight on influential Black British artists on the screens. Discover new artists or enjoy listening to some of your faves. Listen to the playlist.

Make sure to keep your eye on the screens in DMH throughout the month as we will be sharing information on influential Black creatives you need to know about in Events, Media, Music, Esports and Games!

We’ll also have music played throughout both of Nottingham and London campuses. You’ll be able to enjoy music from a range of genres and eras with over 40 hours of music included!

Trip to the London Museum

For our London students, you’ll have the opportunity to explore an exhibition at London Museum which looks at London’s often overlooked role in the slave trade. Booking information will be available for students shortly.

Jamaican Kitchen

Now in its third year, the Jamaican Kitchen for Confetti staff will take place in the Student Café, DMH on 6 November from 5:30pm. There will be an authentic Jamaican menu, music and entertainment. All proceeds will go to local prostate cancer support charity, Friends and Bredrins. Tickets are £10 plus a booking fee and Confetti Media Group will match any income for the event. Book your tickets.

Black History Month at Confetti is about more than just celebration—it’s a chance to educate ourselves, share experiences, and connect with each other. We encourage all students and staff to take part in as many events as possible. Whether it’s vibing to the playlists, attending the MOBO night, or watching our talented students perform, there’s plenty to enjoy.
