Radfest returned this year, with a fantastic array of talent on display. Radfest is a summer festival aimed at teens, families, and the community, with something for everyone! Each year our college level students get involved, tasked with running the stage and producing the live sound on the day.
For the fifth year in a row, our student team were responsible for running the stage at Radfest, and they did an excellent job in keeping the event running smoothly. Confetti artists, Slendz and Smokey Penny, also made an appearance, entertaining large crowds in the small town of Radcliffe-On-Trent.
Smokey Penny – Smokey Penny is a newly formed rock band comprised of Year 1 Music Performance learners who are playing a number of shows internally and externally. Smokey Penny have a classic 70’s sound, fantastic song-writing. Truly up and coming.
Slendz – Year 1 Music Performance learner, Slendz, is an up-and-coming rapper and one to watch! Hailing from Derby, Slendz has been performing and releasing music consistently racking up over 60,000 monthly listeners on his Spotify.

“One of the main reasons I enjoyed Radfest was the sense of being part of a team. Working alongside different staff, technicians and artists made the experience fulfilling. Being able to contribute my skills and knowledge while learning from others was also very rewarding.” – Ellie Wheat
“I enjoyed the entire day, from load in to load out. I enjoyed operating monitors for some bands and solo acoustic artists, as well as learning valuable skills from the year twos on how to connect multiple digital desks together, and how to send audio both ways across a single cable.” – Harry Tomlinson
“From the experience, I was able to see what working an actual festival is like, and the importance of every role for a production to come together. I was also able to use skills I had learnt during my college course, to make equipment work, and make it sound the best I can. Moreover, I was able to get experience as a monitor engineer to put on my CV.” – Philip Caswell
“The student team ran the stage again this June for the 5th year and I can truly say they are exceptional! As a committee we have 100% trust in Confetti to seamlessly deliver and we just leave them to get on with it and they never let us down.
