At Industry Week 2019, students enjoyed talks from some of our great alumni at the Do It For Real events. Some of Confetti’s top media graduates came back and spoke about their industry experiences since leaving, and answered questions about working within the media industry. Learn a bit more about them…
Courtney Nettleford joined Darlow Smithson Productions (DSP) in 2018 as a Production Assistant. During her time at DSP Courtney has worked across both Development and Production; on titles such as Made in Great Britain (BBC) and Project Interiors (BBC/Netflix). Courtney previously worked as an Office Assistant for BBC Sunday Politics, a freelance content creator, and as a Producer at Nonsuch Theatre on Arts Council England’s Cultural Education Partnership initiative in The East Midlands.
Damien Ebanks is a Junior Editor for the development team at Plum Pictures, cutting together taster tapes and short pilots daily while filming on locations, as well as cutting down rough scenes for Editors and helping out on various productions. Having studied at Confetti, he worked his way through a number of Runner roles, working on shows like ‘Have I Got News For You’ and ‘George Clarks Shed of The Year’. Following this, he progressed from Runner to Researcher, before gaining his current editing role.
Hannah Storm studied on the first year of the Technical Events Production Level 3 course at confetti before moving to study Arts and Festival Management at De Montfort University. While studying, Hannah worked as a steward at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, an on-site coordinator for See Tickets and as an Events Assistant at the Motorpoint Arena, giving a wide range of industry experience while studying. After graduation, Hannah joined the events team at the arena full time, now working as an Event Manager on large scale events in the 10,000 capacity venue!
Michael Jobling started his career as a production assistant in London working on music videos and commercials before going on to study TV & Film Production at Confetti. He has directed a number of well-received short films and music videos; winning an RTS award for short film Anoesis, and successfully crowdfunding £10,000 to co-direct his short film Ariella. Michael is a co-founder and producer at Them Pesky Kids – a production company that creates high production value, cinematic, story-driven films, music videos and commercials.
At Confetti, Tori Aspinall studied a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in VFX and Animation, before moving to London and securing a role at Pinewood Studios when she worked as an On-set and Production VFX PA on the final episode of the Star Wars series. Following this, she moved into a Next Gen VFX Apprenticeship and now works as a Junior 2D Artist at major VFX company, DNEG.
