We’ve invited some of Confetti’s top graduates from the creative industries to talk about their industry experiences since leaving, and answer all your questions. Learn a bit more about them…
Do It For Real Media - Thursday 7 March
Courtney Nettleford joined Darlow Smithson Productions (DSP) in 2018 as a Production Assistant. During her time at DSP Courtney has worked across both Development and Production; on titles such as Made in Great Britain (BBC) and Project Interiors (BBC/Netflix). Courtney previously worked as an Office Assistant for BBC Sunday Politics, a freelance content creator, and as a Producer at Nonsuch Theatre on Arts Council England’s Cultural Education Partnership initiative in The East Midlands.
Damien Ebanks is a Junior Editor for the development team at Plum Pictures, cutting together taster tapes and short pilots daily while filming on locations, as well as cutting down rough scenes for Editors and helping out on various productions. Having studied at Confetti, he worked his way through a number of Runner roles, working on shows like ‘Have I Got News For You’ and ‘George Clarks Shed of The Year’. Following this, he progressed from Runner to Researcher, before gaining his current editing role.
Hannah Storm studied on the first year of the Technical Events Production Level 3 course at confetti before moving to study Arts and Festival Management at De Montfort University. While studying, Hannah worked as a steward at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, an on-site coordinator for See Tickets and as an Events Assistant at the Motorpoint Arena, giving a wide range of industry experience while studying. After graduation, Hannah joined the events team at the arena full time, now working as an Event Manager on large scale events in the 10,000 capacity venue!
Michael Jobling started his career as a production assistant in London working on music videos and commercials before going on to study TV & Film Production at Confetti. He has directed a number of well-received short films and music videos; winning an RTS award for short film Anoesis, and successfully crowdfunding £10,000 to co-direct his short film Ariella. Michael is a co-founder and producer at Them Pesky Kids – a production company that creates high production value, cinematic, story-driven films, music videos and commercials.
At Confetti, Tori Aspinall studied a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in VFX and Animation, before moving to London and securing a role at Pinewood Studios when she worked as an On-set and Production VFX PA on the final episode of the Star Wars series. Following this, she moved into a Next Gen VFX Apprenticeship and now works as a Junior 2D Artist at major VFX company, DNEG.

One half of production duo ‘Congi’, Gaz Frost studied a BSc in Audio & Recording Science at Confetti. Gaz is not only a music producer, but also co-manager of record label ‘Chord Marauders’, where his role is focused largely on handling physical distribution with A&R. With a background in DJing, live performance and production, he now teaches music production in Nottingham.
Tom Wood gained an interest in live music in his teens, attending shows at Rock City which piqued his interest in touring crews and the role they play in live music events. He began studying Technical Events at Confetti in 2014, before securing his first technician job in an independent venue in 2015. After this, Tom continued his studies with the Live and Technical Events Degree at Confetti, shortly after which he began working for DHP Family in Stealth and Rescue, before being moved over to Rock City after a year and a half where he now works as a live sound engineer.
After studying the FdSc Music Technology at Confetti, followed by a BSc at De Montfort University, George Patchett has had a fantastic career to date. Following a six-month internship at Notts TV, he began freelancing for ESL UK – UK and Ireland’s Premier Esports company – working on a variety of games in the ESports sphere. Two years on, and he is Head of Sound their headquarters in Leicester.

After this, Tom continued his studies with the Live and Technical Events Degree at Confetti, shortly after which he began working for DHP Family in Stealth and Rescue, before being moved over to Rock City after a year and a half where he now works as a live sound engineer.
A panel of experts from the Games industry will be joining us. Students will be able to enjoy talks from Stefan Samuels, Bradley Hunter and Adam Lawson, all of whom have gone on to work for Rockstar Games since graduating from Confetti. Between them, all three are involved in some of the most exciting areas of game design and testing, including VR development, environmental modelling and much more. The games they have worked on include the popular Grand Theft Auto online and Red Dead Redemption 2, amongst others.
