Your Christmas party – view our Retronome highlights and photos!

Friday December 14, 2018

On Wednesday 12 December, our Level 3 Technical Events students planned and executed a fantastic Christmas Party at Metronome. The theme was ‘retro’ so legwarmers, jelly sandals, dungarees; you name it, someone was wearing it. Many of you went to the event and had an amazing time; so let’s have a look at some of the highlights…

‘Oh the queues outside were frightful’

Many of you made sure you were some of the first in (even if it meant waiting in the festive weather).

‘But the disco was so delightful’

But once you were in, you made full use of the silent disco. The tunes were popping from Music tutor Tom Darke, Games tutor Pete Salt, and our Level 3 Technical Events students.

‘Some enjoyed the games grotto’

We also had a variety of games on the go in the foyer of Metronome…from the classic Sonic to the popular rocket league.

‘Others heard C Hayez’s lyrical flow’

We opened the main room and enjoyed Level 3 Music Performance student Connor (C Hayez Raps) rap to a variety of popular tunes; providing originality with his unique rapping style.

‘It didn’t show signs of stoppin”’

The party vibes were kept alive thanks to our Level 3 Music Technology student DJ Tom (The Real Yizm) with his mix of bassline and pop tunes.

‘Marvin’s Revenge brought tunes for poppin”’

Our Level 3 Music student alternative rock band Marvin’s Revenge mixed original material with some covers for some more head bopping and dancing.

‘The staff band then stole the show”

The fans favourite Battle of the Bands was incredible! Level 3 Music student band ‘Refreshments’ performed an almost flawless set, but were beaten by the Confetti tutor band after our tech team used a noise meter to find out who received the biggest cheer! It was very close considering our students are still learning.

‘Before your dancing gave us vertigo”

When we said there will be dance-offs, we were not disappointed! The night ended how it started with DJ sets from The Bodega’s Indie Wednesdays DJ and Music tutor Mark Pearson. We spotted congo lines, flossing, body popping battles, and a headstand to top it off.

Everyone we spoke to had a great time, and a massive thank you, congratulations and well done needs to go out to our Technical Events students who’ve worked so hard over the past eight weeks. It’s going to be incredibly hard to better this year’s in 2019…but we’ll be up for the challenge when it comes.
