We’re proud to say that nine of our students were celebrated at the Young Creative Awards held at the Nottingham Playhouse in May!

The annual awards celebrate young talent based in Nottingham and the surrounding towns and villages. Students submit work on any theme or subject in one of the ten categories:

  • Animation and Digital Media
  • Creative Writing
  • Dance
  • Design and Architecture
  • Fashion and Textiles
  • Film
  • Graphic Design
  • Music
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts

Our Confetti winners

In the Graphic Design categories, Lauren Quinn won the 16-18 age group and James Ennin won the 19-24. Their awards were presented by Rosie Dean from Stencil Creative.

On winning Lauren said:

“Getting recognised was a surprise but it’s definitely given me a confidence boost in my own work and design skills. I’m still finding my own creative style but moments like this help me feel like I’m heading in the right direction.”

Ethan Marle won the Animation and Digital Media category for ages 19-24, awarded by Dan Doughty, Confetti’s HE Curriculum Manager for Media and Games. Ethan also won the Milo Kelly Award at our Degree Showcase that took place in the same week.

Alternative rock band Luna and the Lime Slices won the 19-24 Music category. The band is made up of Oscar Farrage, Sofia Kellas, Eris Papakonstantinou, Lydia Bishop and Rob Harrison.

Confetti were well represented in the 19-24 Film category by current student Sally Birago and alumni Louis Leivers and Albert Natan. Sally took home the win and her award was presented by Rob Dixon, Creative Director of True Story.

Our highly commended Confetti students

Dan Ottewell and Cali Green were both highly commended in the Music categories, as was Rae Dowling in Photography and Heath Lennox in Film.

Dan said:

“Creativity is really important, especially in the world we live in today. By celebrating expression at awards like these it promotes the importance of the young creative community.”

Head of Talent Development, Alison Whitlock added:

“A big thanks to all Confetti students and graduates who submitted entries to this year’s Young Creative Awards. The breadth and standard of entries was truly impressive.”

Congratulations to all our current students and alumni who were nominated for an award.
