It’s a busy time for scammers, so it’s important to remain vigilant if anyone tries to contact you.
Some students have reported receiving calls from withheld numbers which claim to be from senior NTU Finance colleagues “investigating fraud”. They will use this excuse to request your bank details and other kinds of personal information.
This kind of scam attack is a relatively new form of phishing called a Telephone-Oriented Attack Delivery (or TOAD for short). It combines voice and email phishing techniques and the attackers trick you into giving away sensitive information over the phone by impersonating a trusted authority figure. This could include your login credentials or financial data.
Please note that neither Confetti nor NTU will request financial details over the phone. If you receive a call like this, immediately hang up. If you have received a call requesting financial details from a number you do not recognise, you can report this to Action Fraud www.actionfraud.police.uk
If you think you have fallen victim to a scam, please contact the Student Support Team for advice and support as soon as you can on studentservices@confetti.ac.uk
