Look at what we got up to at Christmas

Confetti Christmas Nightmare

We hope you had a good Christmas and new year because we definitely did here at Confetti. Many of our students went to the Confetti Christmas Nightmare social at Rescue Rooms and had an amazing time.

The party couldn’t have happened without our very own talented Level 3 Technical Event students, working hard to plan, organise and bring the event to life! From all the technical & sound requirements to venue dressing and stage design, they turned Rescue Rooms into a Christmassy Nightmare Tim Burton would be proud of!

The night was full of awesome music from legendary DJ producer DJ Fever, iTunes chart debutant Rob Green, and crunk DJs CA$H MUN£¥ – all supported by our amazing student performers. With the additions of unlimited free burritos and game console battles, the event was a huge success. If you didn’t go and want to know more about the night, carry on reading below!

Our students were incredible!

This event was a great opportunity to showcase the best Confetti has to offer in student performers. Fishlounge kicked off the night and their impressive performance set the tone for the night. If there was a ‘Best Dressed’ award it would’ve gone to Red Rooms opening act Dandylions, whose pink & yellow outfits were just as funky as the performance!

Elocin followed Dandylions and wowed everyone with her voice. Her amazing guitar skills and beautiful vocals made sure no one in Red Rooms wanted to leave. DJ’s George Bacon, Connor Simcox and Bentronix ended the night in the main room, treating the crowd with a mix of house and bass as they partied into the night.

“The opportunity that I was given to DJ main stage at Rescue Rooms was possibly the biggest moment in 2016 for me and a great step in the direction I want to go, not only did it give me experience of being on a stage in front of the crowd, but it also put my foot in the door for anyone that works at Rescue Rooms.” Connor Simcox, Level 3 Audio & Music Technology.

Not only was it a chance to perform to a crowd, it was a chance to see some of the industry’s current stars – newcomers and legends. Let’s have a look at who our students supported…

DJ Fever

DJ Fever

The hip-hop scratch DJ/Producer kept everyone entertained throughout the night, showing his 20 years’ experience with his cool choice of tracks. His music selection was perfect to keep the crowd buzzing in between acts.

Rob Green

You can tell Rob Green is going to be a star. As soon as he walked onto the stage he clicked with the crowd, performing many of his tracks from his EP which reached #3 in the iTunes RnB Chart! He got the crowd involved throughout the set, from singing along to actual conversations #joshinit.

Get money get paid is their motto, but that doesn’t come without a great performance which they delivered with the help of the festive foam machine – you’ve gotta see it to believe it, so hop onto our Facebook page and browse through our party album.

“The student Christmas party was so good, it’s great being able to experience a live gig through college. It wasn’t just any party, we had live acts and even gaming consoles!” Melanie Wilson, Level 2 Music Performance

Music wasn’t the only thing students could enjoy during the night, as we set up game stations and a photo booth for when a break was needed from the dancefloor – free burritos were provided to keep up those energy levels.

Who was Tekken champion then?

Gaming Station

If you needed a break from the dancefloor you could play on one of the gaming stations – many of you claimed bragging rights over your mates. Tekken 6 on the Xbox 360 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii were available and many of you enjoyed showing everyone who was the best on the night.

“As well as the amazing sound system, having games like Tekken was a nice feature!” Michael Saunders, Level 2 Music Performance.

Did someone say FREE Burritos?

Hunger wasn’t an issue as BarBurrito supplied everyone with hundreds of free mini burritos. Staff were on hand to hand them out throughout the night, and made sure no one went home on an empty stomach.

Photo booth + crazy props = amazing photos

If you haven’t seen them yet we highly recommend you go check out our photo booth photos because they’re everything you’d expect when you have unlimited props to work with. You can find all the photos here.
