BBC Radio 1Xtra record Nottingham’s finest in our Contemporary Music & Live events Hub

Friday March 9, 2018

On Friday 2 March, BBC Radio 1Xtra came to Nottingham to shine some light on the hottest music talent our great city has to offer. DJ Target and his team came to Confetti and used our fantastic new Studio 2 in our new home for music and live events! Listen to the episode on BBC iPlayer.

Thanks to the combined efforts of our music tutors, our student engineers and BBC Radio 1, the session was a complete success. It was produced by Industry Week favourite Andy Rogers who was supported by FdSc Audio and Music Technology students Alex Hummel and Max Jeffries, acting as assistant audio engineers. DJ Target hosted the session and showcased a wealth of local talent made up of; Ady Sulieman; Young T & Bugsey; Bru-C; Joel Baker; HEX; Jah Digga; Snow667; and 0115 Mob!

“We were over the moon to welcome BBC Radio 1Xtra to our brand-new studio only a month of being in the Contemporary Music and Live Events Hub. We had students engineering for one of the most experienced producers of radio sessions in the world, Andy Rogers, and they showed him what they could do, and very much held their own! The students, staff and, of course, the studio itself demonstrated what a world-beating learning environment Confetti is: high-end industry, excellent staff supporting unique student opportunities.” John Meredith, Music Curriculum Leader

DJ Target was mightily impressed with what Nottingham had to offer:

“Nottingham is a city bubbling over with creative talent and the music scene is a very diverse one. Being able to take our show to the city and really get amongst the artists we’ve already supported was amazing and it’s always great to find new acts that we didn’t know of previously. That’s what the city focus is all about.”

Our Contemporary Music and Live Events Hub has only been open for a month, but we’ve already recorded music that has been listened to on national radio, and is currently being listened to globally on BBC iPlayer…a fantastic achievement for everyone involved!
