Course Taster Sessions
We’re delighted that you’re joining us for our offer holder open day! We’ve got a special day lined up for you with taster sessions, masterclasses, performances and the chance to chat to our staff and students over lunch. Offer holder days provide you with the opportunity to explore your course and learning facilities in much greater depth than other open days.
The taster sessions will run at the following times*:

Please Note: We request that parents/carers (and any other guests attending with prospective students) don’t attend these taster sessions where possible. This is to ensure that all prospective students are able to have a go.

Join the Event Production team in our main venue for the chance to experience operating sound and lighting on a virtual live show.
You’ll get hands on experience with our industry standard sound and lighting consoles whilst having the chance to talk to existing students and staff about the course.
*11:30am & 12:30pm only.

Join the Event Management Course team and explore the skills and practices involved in Event Management.
You’ll be able to have a look at some planning resources and gain some further knowledge on the scope of the course, you can even take a walk with one of our site radios and practice some radio communication!

Option 1

We’re running a practical, band orientated workshop designed to give an idea of how you will work with peers on the first year of the course. You will be given a brief and will then have time to create a short song that meets the brief. Time permitting you may also be able to perform the song.
*10:30am & 12:30pm only.
Option 2

We’re running a hands-on music production workshop using Ableton Live. You’ll use found-sounds and samples to make beats and manipulate audio to create melody, harmony and texture for live and studio-based electronic music performance.
*11:30am only.

Take part in an interactive session where we’ll cover some hot topics in the music industry!

During this workshop, you will be introduced to some of the social media campaigns that have impacted society and the significant role that social media marketing plays in the Media Industry.
There will then be a practical Photoshop-based task where you will be given some photo assets to turn into a social media post.

During this taster session you will work on footage shot by current Confetti students for the BBC. Your task will be to colour grade the footage to put your own creative stamp on it and get it ready for broadcast.
You will gain basic insight into the colour grading process and what is required to get footage to the standards expected of broadcasters and filmmakers.

You’ll explore the methods and processes for creating high-end adaptable assets for use in VFX sequences, exploring two core software applications: Nuke, and ZBrush.

During this taster session you will be introduced to a sample of software, techniques and workflows utilised by some of the foremost games companies and artists.
In this 45-minute session you will texture a 3D asset. You will utilise Substance Painter and texture an asset based on a series of prompts, explore layer blending, texture maps and create a fully rendered 3D model that could be prepared for game engine implementation.

During this taster session you will experience workflows commonly associated with video game pipelines carried out within Game studios all over the world
You will explore the processes of basic modelling, simple animation and/or 3D texturing, then finish off with a game ready asset added to an industry standard games engine, Unreal Engine 5.

Get to grips with the technologies that are driving the esports production industries in our offer holders taster for BSc Esports Production. You’ll have the opportunity to get behind the scenes of an esports production, operate the gear and work with students who are currently studying the degree.
This is a perfect opportunity to see how we do it for real at Confetti with esports productions.

During this taser session you will get to explore the new and emerging technology that is driving Virtual Production for Film, VFX, television, with a look at Unreal engine 5.
In this session, you will get to grips with advanced world building for use in Virtual Production Output for both previsualisation technology and LED volume output.
Alongside this session, you will tour the Confetti X Studio space and see first hand the LED Technology used in Virtual Production Volumes.

During this taster session you will be exploring both digital and analogue processes of creating typography and surface textures.
You will gain insight into how these techniques are embedded into your studies on the FdA Graphics and Digital Design course at Confetti and also see how similar approaches are taken by contemporary graphic designers working in industry.
