Students studying music technology at Confetti followed in some famous musical footsteps yesterday when they spent the day at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Level 3 Music Technology Rock and Live students from Confetti had the experience of a lifetime when they took part in a recording session at Abbey Road Studio 2. Studio 2 is where the Beatles recorded their material. Leading up to the event Confetti held an internal competition to find a student band to record an EP on the day and Hometown Hero were the lucky winners. Industry Week Guest Jeanie Finlay premieres her latest film at the Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival

Tonight in Sheffield 2012 Industry Week guest Jeanie Finlay will introduce her latest feature film to a packed audience at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema. The Great Hip Hop Hoax brings the audacious story of Gavin Bain and Billy Boyd to the big screen. After studying together at Dundee College they managed to fool the music industry into believing they were Californian hip hop artists “Silibil n Brains” . Confetti Congratulates Degree Showcase Winners

Confetti Degree Showcase 2013 finished on a high yesterday as winners of multiple awards were announced at the Showcase Awards Ceremony in the Antenna Bar and Restaurant. The Showcase event started at 3pm at Confetti ICT, where Higher Education students had the chance to showcase their talent and their projects produced throughout the year. The turnout this year was fantastic! Families and friends came to support and enjoy their work as well as other education establishments and industry  eagerly scouting for potential. Spotlight on Confetti Games Technology Award nominees

As we gear up for tomorrow’s Confetti Degree Showcase Awards Ceremony we take a look at some of the Games Technology nominees put forward by their tutors for Games Technology Student of the Year. The winners of each course award are also eligible to be crowned overall Confetti Student of the Year. The prize? A year’s paid internship with the Confetti Media Group. Mature student Shaun Blundell travels to Confetti from Birmingham, such is his commitment to his studies and his future. Students prepare for Confetti Degree Showcase 2013

From jazz recordings in a church, to films about the Napoleonic War – Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies is opening its doors and inviting visitors to sample its creative delights at ‘Showcase’ – its annual gala celebration of Higher Education students’ creativity and achievements. Games Technology students get involved in Crytek “Off the Map” Competition

Interactive entertainment company, Crytek recently launched a creative competition for students in association with the British Library and GameCity. “Off the Map” is challenging students from participating universities and colleges to create interactive environments from a selection of British Library maps, using Crytek’s free CryENGINE 3 SDK. The Old Robots, The Sleepwalking Robots, Project Stigma and Team Nameless are the Confetti ICT teams that have been participating in the challenge. Confetti students celebrate win at the Nottingham Young Creative Awards
The Young Creative Awards took place at the Nottingham Playhouse on Monday evening and Confetti students were amongst the winners. The winning entry for the 19-24 bracket for Animation and Digital Media was from Confetti HE Games Technology students, Tom Russell, Barry Martin and Josh Chaplin. All 3 students  are studying a Foundation Degree at Confetti ICT. The Young Creative Awards were launched in 2009 to attract up and coming creative talent in the city and put young people in Nottingham on the creative map. New Confetti course gets Glastonbury backing!

A brand new Nottingham course in Technical Events Production has received the endorsement of Mark Cann, Michael Eavis’ second in command at Glastonbury Festival. In recommending the new BTEC extended diploma, he described it as “a fantastic launch pad for a technical career in events production.” Confetti is a custom-designed facility which specialises in courses in Music Technology, TV & Film production and Games Technology. Its expansion into delivering two new BTEC courses starting this September – in Technical Events Production and Radio Production – was a natural progression following the skills and professional experience of its tutors, and the …

Industry Week 2013

Bigger, better, louder… Big names from the worlds of music, games TV and film are once again gearing up to present at Confetti’s Annual Industry Week event. For one week each year, Confetti students’ normal timetable is replaced by masterclasses, workshops and lectures – all delivered by key creative industry players. This years guests include Michael Eavis and Vicky McClure.

Denizen in the News
Confetti was once again in the news yesterday – this time on BBC East Midlands Today, with a look at record label Denizen, part of the Confetti Media Group and ex-Confetti students Kappa Gamma. The special report looked at Nottingham’s thriving, world-class music scene. Pete Denizen, Head of Denizen was interviewed in Confetti’s EM Recording Suite. Big Daddy Kane visits Urban Electronic Students

From Prince Harry to Big Daddy Kane! Confetti was delighted to welcome Big Daddy Kane when he dropped in during his UK tour to meet a few of our students. Influential rapper Big Daddy Kane spent an afternoon with Urban Electronic Pathway students while he was in town for a performance at Nottingham’s The Lace House. The GRAMMY award winning star spoke to the Level 3 students about his career in the music industry then watched the students perform their own material.
