A Typical Week

Monday

Get up around 10. Get the bus to Nottingham to start Confetti at 1pm. 2 hours of seminar spent catching up on world news and covering all admin tasks – CVs, Personal statements, UCAS application.

1 hour break – Confetti is right in the city centre so good for nipping out to local shops. Then 2 hours of audio and MIDI sequencing – creating music with computers.

Tuesday

AV Installation day – means getting up as early as 4am to travel to different parts of the country. London, Cardiff, Birmingham to name a few. Usually building video walls or installing TVs, Projectors and Speaker systems.

Wednesday

Get up around 10, catching up on sleep from Tuesday. Get the bus to college for 1pm. 2 hours of PPD, learning about ethics and morals, followed by 2 hours of Marketing. Hang around and get some work done after lesson – we’re lucky to have some of the best gear I have ever seen at a college! We have multiple mixers including two Behringer X32’s and a Midas Venice F32, a full EV Tour series PA and EV amp racks.

Thursday

Staging day – another early morning, off to build stages and get some real industry experience for the likes of Splendour Festival, Happy Mondays and The Riverside Festival to name a few. It’s hard work but enjoyable and satisfying to see what you’ve achieved. Confetti offers no end of industry opportunities some of which I have been able to make the most of. I got my current job through Confetti.

Friday

Early start for the last day of the week – up at 6.30am to get ready for college. Today is filled with listening skills and event planning! The course covers almost everything in the live events industry, we do everything from live sound engineering and lighting to event managing and marketing. It covers a wide range of skills and helps to set anyone up for the events industry.

Now we’ve finished for the week I’ll head to band practice for the night!

Want a week like Will’s? Check out our courses, it’s not too late to apply.
