About the creative industries
A definition for the creative industries is difficult to pin down – but the broad industries that fall into this category are Music, Design, Publishing, Digital Media, Technology, Fashion, Games, Arts & Culture, Marketing & Advertising and TV & Film. The list is ever-growing.
Why a career in the Creative Industries?
We live in an exciting time where technology informs and supports almost everything we do. As this world expands, the industries that support it grow -offering exciting opportunities for people who choose to make a career within them. At Confetti we continue to follow key market trends to ensure we’re offering courses and qualifications to satisfy these markets, creating confident professionals who are job-ready.
Established by Craig Chettle in 1994 with just a handful of staff and students Confetti has become one of the most forward thinking educational institutes in the UK.
Nottingham-born Craig left school before completing his A-Levels, but fuelled by a love of music he formed and played in numerous bands, including a band that was label mates with none other than Frank Sidebottom! However, over time, Craig became more interested in studio production and sound engineering, alongside tour and production management with artists such as Whycliffe, Tindersticks, Nick Cave and acts from legendary rock label Earache.
Craig says: “Back then, places like Confetti didn’t exist. Your passion was your hobby and I had no real idea how to turn that into a job. Plus, wanting to work in music without moving to London seemed impossible”.
Inspired by his own experiences Craig founded Confetti after recognising a need for industry-lead vocational creative technology courses. It started small, offering a handful of music and sound design courses. It is now one of the country’s leading education establishments and home to over 1300 further and higher education students, at the very start of their careers in the highly competitive fields of games, TV, film, music, events and radio.
“My job has become to harness talent and enthusiasm and match it with opportunity – creating the right environment for success”

Although industry is woven into the fabric of every course, Confetti Industry Week is a concentrated week of activities and events, lending a unique insight from some of the UK’s most influential creative talent.
